How Do Christians in Large Churches Thrive?
I’m a “small church” girl. I grew up in a congregation where everyone pretty much knew everyone, and I kind of liked it that way. So when I got engaged to a man who had recently joined a church with a large congregation, I wondered how in the world I was going to manage. After attending service with him a few times, I was outright distressed. Kuku kill me.
So heavily did the issue weigh on my mind that I found my way to a former pastor’s office seeking counsel. He totally understood where I was (he always does, he’s a pastor in the shepherd sense of the word, not just a pastor as in someone who stands in front and preaches) and he gave me one piece of advice to help me thrive in a large church. “Find a fellowship within the fellowship,” how said.

12 Verses from the Message That Just Give Life
The King James Version of the Holy Bible is incomparable. It has its shortcomings, chief of which is the older English that is sometimes hard to understand, but it also retains what my cousin calls “the power in the Word.”
However, if KJV is on one end of the extreme, The Message is definitely on the other end. Its language goes beyond simple English (simple English is Good News Translation and New Living Translation) to contemporary, conversational grammar that sometimes leaves you confused and reaching for an older translation to confirm (where does the Bible say this?!) and at other times, leave you exhilarated and in awe of God’s love, grace, mercy and glory displayed in the holy scriptures.
In fact, technically The Message is not a translation but a paraphrase, meaning that it’s not designed to be relied on as one’s main or only Bible. However, it’s certainly a plus for every believer to have. Not convinced? Check out these verses.
How Did the Hebrew Women Deliver?
You’ve probably heard many things about “Hebrew women delivery”. I’ve even heard of women refusing caesarean sections because they want to “deliver like the Hebrew women.”
It’s not a bad thing to want a vaginal delivery – it certainly has its advantages –but when this desire becomes spiritualized to the point of demonizing Caesarean sections and insisting on a vaginal birth or nothing, it is nothing short of ridiculous.

Two: The LA Family devotional rocks! As short as the devotional pieces are, they are rich, well-written, and applicable to real life. Then there’s the good ol’ memory verse we thought we left behind in Children’s Sunday School; seriously underrated, I tell you!
Three: Wonderful new friends! As a person whose real wealth is in people, I have The LA Family to thank for a couple of the dearest I now have in my life. Reading God’s Word with grounded, authentic, real and caring brethren has led to more blessings than I could have imagined.
Four: You read the Bible more when you read with The LA Family. When we were children we read one or two verses daily and that was okay, but as we grow in the Lord we need to build our muscles, and that requires taking in more.
